Something to think about!! Trailers in general are the least maintained vehicle on the road! Having your trailer towed or removed off the highway is generally more costly than having your car or truck removed. This can put a real damper on that vacation, snowmobile trip, or business use. So dont put it off; book your unit in today and have piece of mind that your trailer is not going to be an issue.

SOME TRAILER TIPS AND MISCONCEPTIONS

Q. My trailer has barely been used since the last time I checked the bearing.
A. Trailer bearings should be checked on a regular basis even if the trailer is not being used. In warm weather grease has a tendancy to be less viscos and seep out of the bearing cage into the hub centre leaving the bearing roller exposed to humidity and lubrication issues. Most manufacturers ask for a minumum 6 monthly check and more based on usage.

Q. I have easy lube type spindles so I dont need to check the bearings and seals.
A. This is one of the biggest myths in trailer bearing mantainence. Often these systems fail to place the grease in the right location which is in the bearing roller cage and on the bearing race surface thereby filling the hub or hub drum centre with too much grease causing seal failure when the grease expands and is forced past the seal.

Q. Why do I need to check the spring and suspension hardware.
A. Failure in this area is very common due to lack of maintanence. Many spring bushings are made of plastic or polyurathane and have no lubricant. When they fail they start to wear on the shackle bolts and other components very quickly causing failure.
